Arch of Time: Where Art Meets Innovation, and Learning Becomes an Experience
Imagine a place where science and creativity come together beneath the open sky—where the movement of the Earth becomes a living classroom, and the sun paints time across the landscape. Arch of Time is not just a monumental artwork—it’s a destination for inspiration, discovery, and learning for all ages.
Rooted in the transformative power of STEAM education—where the arts are integrated into science, technology, engineering, and math—Arch of Time will invite students from K–12 schools, community colleges, and universities to explore the wonders of our cosmos and the promise of renewable energy.
As a celestial timepiece, Arch of Time will create a breathtaking experience as light and shadow trace the passage of time as the Earth turns, revealing our intimate connection to the solar system. This artwork will be more than a poetic moment—it will be an immersive educational tool.
Students will engage with cutting-edge solar technology in real-time, studying how the artwork’s custom photovoltaic cladding—engineered to face the sun at precise times—generates clean energy throughout the day. From sunrise to sunset, learners can track energy production, analyze data, and visualize their findings using open-source tools, transforming abstract concepts into tangible discoveries.
This is STEAM education at its best: hands-on, project-based, and deeply interdisciplinary. A unique suite of bilingual educational materials will make the experience accessible to people of all backgrounds and ages, while inspiring a sense of wonder, curiosity, and responsibility toward our shared planet.
Arch of Time continues LAGI’s mission to reimagine energy landscapes as works of art in public space. By providing a cultural entry point into environmental and technical education, this artwork by Riccardo Mariano will spark a new generation of thinkers and makers—students who understand that renewable energy is not just essential, but also beautiful.
